Tooth Arrangement

September 30th, 2008 by admin

The ideal position of artificial teeth is precisely the same as that of the natural teeth they replace
Some anatomic landmarks aid in locating the artificial teeth according to their original positions in natural dentition
After the maxillary and mandibular casts are transferred to the articulator, some guidelines are marked on the models to be established during determination of the position of the artificial teeth
The cuspid line, the center line and the high lip line are the lines which the dentist uses to select teeth for his patient
The lower cast is marked behind the retromolar pad to indicate the centre of the rims as they would have been before resorption
A line parallel to the frontal plane that touches the anterior margin of the incisal papilla is drawn

The most distal extent of the cuspid eminences are recorded with a line on the maxillary cast
A line is drawn parallel to the frontal plane bisecting the residual ridge and the two endings are designated as the distal of the mandibular cuspids
A line that follows the crest of the residual ridge from the cuspid point to a point that bisects the retromolar pad is drawn and this designates the guide for the buccolingual position of the mandibular posterior teeth

A line that bisects retromolar pad is marked in order to designate the posterior vertical occlusal plane
